For the three jazz poster concepts for my human centered design class, I chose three distinct directions that tie into the concept of the big city life.
The first concept depicts an array of items set out to pack before a trip is taken. Every day items, such as a suitcase and clothes, are coupled with the instruments the band plays.
The second image depicts a man running after a taxi as it speeds away. the man is carrying a briefcase with documents falling out of it, which brings that connotation that the man is on his way to work and is trying to navigate through the city to get there.
The third concept depicts a collaged city block that reveals, when looked at closely, the hidden imagery of a piano that is created through the colors and arrangement of the buildings.
For the color study, I chose colors that would represent the feelings I picked up from the music as well as the overall concept. I used blue tones as the backbone to each study because, at least personally, I felt that was the color closest to the busy city theme I had previously developed, but it also ties into some of the more classical music the trio makes.
