The District 9 site functionally represents the four states that make up District 9: Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri.  The site acts as a hub for the district’s members by providing up-to-date news, information on the board members within the areas, and information about the major conferences and contests the AAF holds. The main goal when building the site was to take the data and content heavy nature of the material and represent it in a way that was easy to understand and navigate as well as keep the user’s attention. To achieve these goals, I kept the aesthetics of the site to a minimum and fully focused on the organization of content. Content is largely structured to be read in sections, much like a magazine, and small illustrated icons were created to help define the sections found throughout the site. The illustrations are simple and graphic but they also implement a bit of light-heartedness, meant to ease the viewer’s experience while navigating through the content-heavy pages.
